Good News For Gulf Sea Turtles
NMFS expects the new TEDs to reduce leatherback annual mortality in shrimp nets by 97% and loggerhead mortality by 94%.  However:  Longlining, for instance, is responsible for killing an estimated 40,000 sea turtles each year.

A Commitment To The Future                                              Seafood Market

We at FreshFromTheBoat wear many hats.  We are commercial fishermen, recreational anglers, and Consumers of Fresh Gulf Seafood.  As such, we are committed to the conservation efforts that will protect our Gulf fisheries and insure availability and  quality for generations to come. We are committed to delivering to you, our customer, only fresh local Gulf seafood.  We ship local seafood at local prices.  We will never sell  the imported seafood, that you generally find at supermarkets around the country.  Our prices aren't higher.  Our quality is!
The very future of the Gulf of Mexico, North America's most economically productive body of water, is in jeopardy. We believe that only through unified efforts can we protect this precious resource.  Help us insure that the quality of water and the health of our gulf fisheries is maintained for our children and grand-children.  You can learn more about the problems threatening the Gulf by clicking on the links on the left.  While we don't act as a rubber stamp for all of these groups or share all of their concerns, we do agree that problems exist and that we must all work together to preserve the viability of a resource that we can't afford to lose: the Gulf of Mexico.
Our primary concerns include the continuing expansion of the Gulf "Dead Zone" and the failure to ban the use of longline gear to harvest fish in the Gulf.  We invite you to increase your awareness, draw your own conclusions and to e-mail your representatives in Washington with your thoughts and concerns.  Without your help, we won't succeed.  We have enclosed the links below to help you.  Just click on your state and choose your representatives and senators from the list provided.
WE DO NOT KNOWINGLY SELL ANY PRODUCT THAT WAS OBTAINED BY USING LONGLINE GEAR OR FISH TRAPS.
